  •  NOSDRA has been engaged in monitoring of remediation of past impacted sites, and has inspected more than 1,150 impacted sites of various Oil Companies
  • In line with the spirit of SERVICOM, the Agency has also set up an outlined report procedure on incidences of oil spillage which would ultimately facilitate quick response
  • The Agency has trained about 73 technical staff members in various areas of Oil Spill management and relevant administrative courses are also administrated from time to time in collaboration with some international organizations such as; United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), International Maritime Organization (IMO), International Petroleum Industry Environment Conservation Agency (IPIECA), Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL)

  • NOSDRA has completed the environmental sensitivity Index (ESI) mapping of Nigeria coastal liens from Badagry to Calabar, Stretching 50km inland for the purpose of guiding and ensuring appropriate response mechanism required for different environmentally sensitive areas in the event of oil spill.

BRIEF HISTORY


NOSDRA was established by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Act of 2006 (hyperlink). It was established with responsibility for preparedness, detection, and response to oil spillages in Nigeria.
Our head office is at 5th floor NAIC House plot 590, zone AO, Central Business District, Abuja, with our zonal offices in Lagos, Akure, Porth-court, Delta, Kaduna, and Akwa-Ibom State.
